Stemming from FIP’s newly launched insight report, How pharmacists worldwide are strengthening health literacy and empowering patients, the report highlights innovative strategies to improve public understanding of health, medicines, and disease prevention, as well as the systemic barriers that limit pharmacists’ impact.

This event focuses on equipping pharmacists in Africa with the skills, knowledge, and confidence to become effective health literacy champions. Participants will explore targeted training programmes, continuous professional development strategies, and practical communication techniques to enhance patient understanding of health, medicines, and disease prevention. The session will also examine ways to integrate pharmacists more fully into health systems, ensuring that communities have access to accurate, culturally relevant, and easily understandable health information. Case studies will highlight successful initiatives that have empowered pharmacists to bridge knowledge gaps and drive community health outcomes.
