Globally, it is estimated that antimicrobial-resistant (AMR) infections cause over 70,000 deaths each year—a number that is expected to rise significantly if current inaction persists. As primary and often sole healthcare contacts for patients with infections, pharmacists are well-positioned to play a crucial role in antimicrobial stewardship (AMS). The absence of consistent education and training for health care professionals on AMR & AMS in low- and middle-income countries (LMICs) remains a significant challenge together with the lack of diagnostics and medication shortages. This episode will showcase the contributions of pharmacist in resource limited settings in addressing AMR. 

In the first episode titled “Pharmacists at the Frontline: Tackling NCDs Together,” we dive into the role pharmacists play in addressing non-communicable diseases (NCDs). From prevention and early detection to behaviour change and interprofessional collaboration, this episode highlights how pharmacy-led initiatives can drive real impact in reducing the global burden of NCDs.
