Pharmacy’s role in the climate change: Advancing sustainable practice and access to medicines

5 June 2026

Climate change is a growing global health threat, impacting disease patterns and access to medicines. The World Health Organization estimates that climate change could cause an additional 250,000 deaths per year between 2030 and 2050 due to malnutrition, infectious diseases, and heat-related conditions. In response, global efforts are increasingly focused on building climate-resilient and environmentally sustainable health systems.

This World Environment Day webinar will explore pharmacists’ role in addressing climate change, bringing together experts from practice, education, science and humanitarian settings. The session will highlight sustainable pharmacy practices, planetary health education, and real-world responses to climate-related disruptions in medicine access. The webinar will showcase how pharmacists can contribute to climate-resilient, sustainable, and equitable health systems.
