Resisting Resistance: Pharmacists are champions leading the AMR response
Globally, it is estimated that antimicrobial-resistant (AMR) infections cause over 70,000 deaths each year—a number that is expected to rise significantly if current inaction persists. As primary and often sole healthcare contacts for patients with infections, pharmacists are well-positioned to play a crucial role in antimicrobial stewardship (AMS). The absence of consistent education and training for health care professionals on AMR & AMS in low- and middle-income countries (LMICs) remains a significant challenge together with the lack of diagnostics and medication shortages. This episode will showcase the contributions of pharmacist in resource limited settings in addressing AMR. You can also listen to this podcast on our Spotify channel here.
