Mpox update session: What pharmacists should know

14 November 2024

On 14 August 2024, the World Health Organization determined that the new upsurge of mpox (formerly known as monkeypox) constitutes a public health emergency of international concern. As healthcare professionals, and to be prepared to face any questions from the community, it is important that pharmacists are up to date about this disease, its symptoms and global distribution, modes of transmission and prevention, treatment options and available vaccines. Particularly for pharmacists practising in countries with confirmed cases, but for all pharmacists around the world, this event will help mobilise pharmacists to promote awareness and prevent disease progression.
