WHPA Webinar: Tackling AMR in a Changing World - What Next After the UN High-level Meeting
This webinar is hosted by FIP on behalf of the World Health Professions Alliance (WHPA), which brings together the global organizations representing the world’s dentists, nurses, pharmacists, physiotherapists and physicians: www.whpa.org. Antimicrobial resistance is not only one of the top ten global health threats, but it is also exacerbated by climate change, making it a major challenge to global health security and achieving the SDGs. Given this heightened global relevance, it was the subject of the recent High-Level Meeting (HLM) at the 2024 UN General Assembly.
In this webinar, WHPA’s expert speakers will take stock of the meetings’ outcomes and discuss how they contribute to ongoing efforts to tackle AMR. Will they result in higher levels of political commitment, and funding? What are the key financial and operational challenges? How does AMR play out differently in low-, middle- and high-income countries? How should public health messaging evolve? And what are best practice examples of interprofessional collaboration on AMR?
