FIP AIM Global Academic Leaders Forum (GALF) 2022

GALF will be organised virtually in a workshop format to increase communication and collaboration between FIP AIM members. The GALF 2022 topic will be "Culture of innovation in academia".

Innovation can happen as a single event, but it can also become part of an organisation’s culture so that it is systematically engaged in significant and meaningful activities that will allow it to stand above the rest. Especially after the COVID-19 pandemic, the academia had to revisit the learning and teaching methods, and this workshop aims at exploring how a culture of innovation can be developed and sustained in academia, where traditions are engrained and change is not always an easy endeavour.

At the end of this session, participants will be able to:

• Understand the concepts of innovation and culture, and how they interact (For before and after the COVID-19 pandemic),
• Analyse their organisation and determine what domains would require innovation,
• Develop a strategy to gradually influence the behaviours to allow innovation to become part of the culture,
• In the light of the COVID-19 experience, plan change management activities that will allow the expected cultural evolution towards innovation, and
• Discuss examples of academic organisations that have relied on a culture of innovation to move forward.
