Supporting oral care in pregnancy and older age: The pharmacist’s role

3 June 2026

Oral health is a key indicator of overall health and quality of life, influencing well-being and self-confidence, and the ability to live and work without pain and discomfort. Oral diseases are largely preventable and can be more effectively managed when identified early. Pharmacists are highly accessible healthcare professionals and play a key role in promoting oral health, supporting early identification, providing patient education, and contributing to multidisciplinary care—particularly for populations with specific needs such as pregnant women and older adults.
