“Pharmacy cares: Supporting patients with non-communicable diseases” programme

Pharmacists have a crucial role to play in the prevention, screening, management and treatment optimisation of non-communicable diseases. FIP is launching an extensive programme of digital events to support pharmacists in this area.. The programme will consist of various series of events focusing on topics such as diabetes care and management, optimising the use of medicines and patient safety, pharmacists’ role in healthy nutrition and weight management, pain management, cancer care and anticoagulation treatment management.

This webinar will focus on the the role of community of pharmacists in weight management and obesity prevention, screening, referral and management, pharmacy-led weight management approaches and the intergenerational correlations in hypercholesterolemia and obesity. In addition, we will also present selected aspects from the  FIP handbook on nutrition and weight management for pharmacists, to be launched that day.

Learning objectives:
- Understand the role of community of pharmacists in obesity and weight management prevention, screening and referral
- Discuss the importance of prevention and management of childhood obesity
- Share good practices in terms of community pharmacy services focusing on weight management
